Recovery in days

                                                                                       Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)?

Affecting more than 12 million people, CTS can cause pain, numbness and tingling in the hand and arm. It occurs when the median nerve, one of the major nerves in the hand, is compressed as it travels through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. It primarily affect the thumb, index and middle finger. CTS can affect anyone that is active and uses their hands on a daily basis.

Traditional Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery

CTS may be treated surgically through a procedure called carpal tunnel release (CTR), which relieves pressure on the median nerve by cutting the transverse carpal ligament. Traditional CTR procedures can remedy the condition, but may result in  large and sometimes big scars, ongoing palmar pain, and a longer recovery

A New Way to Treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for Faster Recovery

Now there’s a proven way to get rapid relief from carpal tunnel pain and return quickly to normal activities.

Micro-invasive Carpal Tunnel Release (CTR) with the SX-One MicroKnife®The SX-One MicroKnife is a low-profile, safe, and effective instrument that allows your doctor to perform carpal tunnel release in a matter of minutes. When combined with ultrasound visualization, the procedure requires only a very small (4-5 mm) wrist incision.

Significant benefits of the SX-One MicroKnife

  • Performed in a procedure room or office setting
  • Can be performed using local anesthesia
  • Small wrist incision is typically closed without sutures
  • Reduces or eliminates the need for opioids
  • Postoperative therapy is typically not required—saving you time and money
  • Immediate motion in the hand for rapid recovery
  • Return to normal activity in a few days, not months

After the procedure, you’ll be able to resume activities as tolerated—most patients can return to work and the activities they love within 3-6 days

Micro-invasive CTR under
Ultrasound Guidance*

  1. A 4-5 mm micro-incision is made in the wrist.
  2. Under ultrasound guidance, the SX-One MicroKnife is inserted through the micro-incision.
  3. Stealth MicroGuards™ are deployed to enhance the protection of nearby nerves, tendons, and other sensitive anatomy during the procedure.
  4. The TCL Blade™ is advanced and cuts the TCL in the wrist to reduce pressure in the carpal tunnel.
  5. The SX-One MicroKnife is removed and the micro-incision is closed with an adhesive bandage or strip; sutures or stitches are optional.
  6.  *Micro-invasive CTR can also be performed with a traditional mini-open incision. Ask your doctor for more information.

I've had carpal tunnel syndrome for years and after my last steroidal shot wore off in under year I knew it was time to get it repaired surgically. I researched carpal tunnel release surgery for about a week and came across the newest innovation which uses a special tool designed specifically for CTS as well as using ultrasound for guidance. It is by far the most minimally invasive with an incredibly short recovery time. In Florida only two doctors are doing this latest technique and Dr. Gonzalez is one of them. I had the surgery on Friday June 19th. Local anesthesia of the area with lidocaine and then Dr. Gonzalez proceeded to perform the release using ultrasound to guide him. I was able to watch the whole procedure and it was fascinating in its logical simplicity for someone who is practiced in this approach. I had very little pain afterwards and very minor swelling. By day two no pain. The first night after the surgery I could finally sleep flat again without getting the numbness and burning in the tips of my fingers. Its great to get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep which was impossible before the surgery. I had my follow up this morning (6 days) and all looks great. I should b back to doing everything I used to do pre surgery next week including biking, weight lifting, working with my hands, etc.. Thank you Dr. Gonzalez!

If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, RUN DON’T WALK, to Dr. Jorge Gonzalez in Fort Lauderdale, FL! Dr. Gonzalez is one of only two doctors in Florida who can perform the minimally invasive treatment (Micro-invasive CTR) for CTS. The first hand specialist I saw was pushing the old procedure; invasive, long recovery, required PT. Talented, professional and ready to listen to and answer any question you might have is who Dr. Gonzalez is.

I am so impressed with Dr Gonzalez, his caring nature and of course his skills. I had carpal tunnel surgery done a week ago and after just 3 days was back at work. I’m a hairstylist and wondered if I’d be able to manage all of my skills, to my surprise I had no problem at all. My numbness and tingling dissipated immediately and had I almost no pain at all. I will be recommending Dr Gonzalez to all my guests and friends. Thank you so much. Wonderful experience with fantastic helpful staff.
